Assam Rifles aids sports meet, ground construction

Modi Battalion of IGAR (South) extended help for conduct of the 25th annu al sports meet of St Joseph's High School, Chandel held on March 10 and 11.In a release, PRO IGAR (S) informed that the Battalion extended a helping hand to the school in terms of sports equipment, practices and met the administrative requirements for conduct of the grand event.
A total of 225 students, 15 teachers and 60 parents attended the event.
On the other-hand, Loktak Battalion of IGAR (South) provided assistance to village council for construction of volleyball court and extension of football field at Songlang village in Churachandpur district on Monday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), on request from the village council and local students' union, a JCB was provided to help level the ground for turning it into a football and volleyball court.
During the course of work, the villagers formed small teams with Assam Rifles personnel and worked together.
The field will be an impetus to boost the endeavours of the village council to provide a better platform for local sportsmen as well as to improve the relations with enhancement of mutual trust between Assam Rifles and local populace, the PRO said.
