DESAM win 2nd Manipur Players' Day Football C'ship

Dingku Singh netted a goal worthy enough off a winner in the 33rd minute to earn DESAM the title of the 2nd Manipur Players' Day Invitational Football Championship-2020 at Maibakhul ground today.
The championship was organised by Manipur Students' Federation under the aegis of All Manipur Football Association to mark the Players' Day initiated in 1999 by the then Chief Minister, W Nipamacha after the State emerged team champions with 49 gold, 24 silver and 39 bronze medals at the 5th National Games held in Imphal and claimed the Raja Bhalendra Singh Trophy the same year.
The Players' Day observation before the final match was graced by MSF's president Sazad Bhuiyamayum, AMUCO's president Nando Luwang, Arjuna Awardee Oinam Bembem, COHR Manipur's chairman Phulindro Konsam and AMFA's president M Ratan as presidium members.
Sazad, while speaking on the occasion highlighted that State need to encourage players in a more deserving way and appealed to shun politics in sports.
An exhibition football match between Apunba Maheiroi team and Mami Thawan team was also held besides a tug of war match between women volunteers and film actresses.
