State Nehru Hockey Tournaments : Stage set for U-17 boys semi-finals as IE trounce Bpr 9-0 in U-15 boys competition

The semi final line up of the U-17 Boys competition of the 50th Nehru Junior U-17 Boys State Level Hockey tournament underway at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium has been completed today.
The first semi-final match will be played between Pool A winners, Unacco School (Imphal West) and Pool B runners up, Brilliant Academy (Thoubal) from 8 am tomorrow as the second semi-final match will be played between Pool B winners, Young Pioneers' School (Imphal East) and Pool A runners up, Eklavya Model Residential School (Kangpokpi) .
In the fourth match of the tournament, Brilliant Academy who went down 0-6 to Imphal East's outfit drubbed RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya, Jiribam 9-0 courtesy Ch Rakeshbabu's four (25', 28', 31', 42') to clinch Pool B second spot and qualify for semi-finals of the 6 team competition.
Later in the day, Young
Pioneers' School crushed RK Sanatombi Vidyalaya 11-0 to top the Pool A as M Manimatum netted five goals alone (2', 3', 9', 15', 27') and N Mahesh Singh hit a hattrick (18', 20', 21').W Bishal (13'), S Alish Singh (17') and L Roshan (30') also netted a goal each to ensure the Imphal East side a comprehensive victory.
In the top of the table clash for Pool A, Unacco School beat Thaimei Guiganpou English School, Bishnupur 2-0 to earn the top place.
Both the goals for the winning side were scored by Sh Borish (39', 50') after the two sides played out a goalless draw till halfway.
Elsewhere in the 39th U-15 Boys competition, Young Pioneers' School, Imphal East trounched Thaimei Guiganpou English School 9-1 to extend their winning run to two and confirm their place in the semi-finals.
Swami Dayal (3', 8') and M Manimatum (5', 26') shone with two goals each for the Imphal East side after Vishal W opened the floodgate in the opening minute.
Th Yaiphaba (9'), S Khemanda (14'), W Derish (23') and N Nonin (29') also scored a goal each for the winning side as L Raju scored the consolation goal for Thaimei Guiganpou late in the 31st minute.
Earlier, Lao Radiant Hr Secondary School, Senapati rallied back twice to salvage a 3-3 draw with Thoubal's Brilliant Academy.
K Bidyasagar (14'), O Rahul (28'), Rohit L (58') netted for the Thoubal team as Don Ng (40'), Milan A (49') and Ch Yuhenba (59') a goal each for the Senapati team.
In a Pool B league match, Kangpokpi's Eklavya Model Residential School routed RK Ranatombi Vidyalaya 4-0 courtesy doubles from I Chandra (7', 33') and K Deny (16', 29') .
