MANIPUR TEAM women's team emerged champion once again displaying its grandeur in the field of sports today in the second day of
the 19th Senior National Sepak Takraw Championship which set off on Wednesday at Khuman Lampak Indoor Stadium, Imphal.
Manipur women's team defeated its opponent Nagaland in today's final match.
Men's team have also entered final and will fight Andhra Pradesh for victory.
The championship is being organised by All Manipur Sepak Takraw Association (AMSTA) under the aegis of Sepak Takraw Federation of India (STFI).
It was inaugurated by the Governor of Manipur, His Excellency, Gurbachan Jagat.
In the first semi final match of women's category, Manipur beat Assam 2-0.The scores were 21-17, 21-11 in the first regue and 21-2 and 21-7 in the second regue.
The second semi final which was played between Nagaland and Orissa, Nagaland defeated Orissa 2-0.The scores were 21-9, 21-13 in the first regue and 21-10, 21-11 in the second regue.
After winning their respective semis, Nagaland and Manipur fought for the final victory.
Nagaland team tried it hard to clinched the champion's title but could not stand the stunning onslaught of Manipur players and had to lost the match in the hand of Manipur.
Manipur won the match 2-0.The scores were 21-15, 21-18 in the first regue and 21-16 , 21-11 in the second regue.
Nagaland won the runners up title.
While Assam won the match of third place by defeating its opponent Orissa 2-0.The scores were 21-14, 21-5 in the first regue and 21-10, 21-10 in the second regue.
Meanwhile, Manipur men's team entered final after winning today's semi final match against Assam.
Manipur beat Assam 2-0.The scores were 21-10, 21-19 and 21-13, 21-4 in the first and second regue respectively.
The second semi final match was won by Andhra Pradesh after defeating Nagaland 2-0.The scores were 17-21, 21-16, 15-12 in the first regue whereas the scores of second regue were 21-12, 14-21, 15-13 .
Manipur and Andhra Pradesh will meet in the final matchb of tomorrow which is scheduled at 8.30 morning.
On the other hand, Nagaland won the match of third place after defeating its opponent Assam 2-1.The scores were 21-17, 12-21, 13-15 in the first regue.
The scores of second regue were 21-12, 21-9 while scores of third regue were 21-8, 21-17 .
