AR Cup an endeavor to save pony: Lt Gen Rawat

In the junior tent pegging lance individual event of the Director General Assam Rifles Cup, State Equestrian Championship-2015 and IGAR(South) Junior Equestrian Championship, Leishemba Takhellambam of KPSC bagged the first position.
The second and third position went to S Jameson (K&MMRS) and N Dhaneshor (ESC) respectively.
The show jumping junior competition was won by Kuber of ESC.
N Jackson (K&MMPS) came second and S Nongpoknganba (CHPC) finished third.
In the senior tent pegging lance individual Th Kaoba of CHPC collected 3000 points to grab the gold, while Rameshwor and A Ranjan, both representing ESC, had to be content with the silver and bronze medal position with 2000 and 1500 points respectively.

O Paikhomba of NMPC won the senior show jumping discipline ahead of Prakash Vandari of ITPC and O Seitajit Singh of K&MMRC, who followed in the second and third position respectively.
The chief guest on the third day of the ongoing 12th edition of Director General Assam Rifles Cup, State Equestrian Championship-2015 organised conjointly by IG AR(S) and Manipur Equestrian Association at Imphal Polo Ground was Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC 3 Corps.
The General officer was accorded a warm welcome with a traditional Manipuri reception and presentation of rosettes and shawl.
Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR (South) and Brig V T Mathew Commander 9 Sector AR along with Dr S Joykumar Singh, President Manipur Equestrian Association, and other civil dignitaries were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion Lt Gen Bipin Rawat, said that the DGAR Cup State Equestrian Championship and IGAR(South) Junior Equestrian Championship is a radiant and eloquent testimony of the Assam Rifles enthusiastic zeal to encourage the strong sports culture of Manipur.
"It is also an endeavour to save the rare breed of Manipuri pony from the brink of extinction", he added.
The whole ceremony was full of pomp and splendour but the cynosure of the ceremony were the tent pegging, cultural programme and the exhibition of Sagol Kangjei which received accolades from the gathering on their performances.
