Imphal, March 30 2017:
Imphal West District Football Association downed Thoubal by a solitary goal in the ongoing 28th Junior Boys' Inter-district Football tournament underway at Artificial Turf ground at Khuman Lampak today.
Evenly matched, the two teams tried their best to surge ahead, but tight marking by either side rendered all their efforts futile.
Playing man to man and matching each other in every department of the game, the light to heavy downpour did not dampen the spirit of the players as they went all out looking for the elusive goal and go up against their rival.

While the Imphal team relied on the long ball, the team from Thoubal preferred to keep it close with short, crisp passes.
The rain did not come in the way of an entertaining match.
Lemon break was taken with both teams tied equally.
After the lemon break, the Imphal boys put more men in the attack and started making inroads with some incisive moves.
Off one such move, the ball went to Golmei Nanao who was lurking near the penalty box of the Thoubal team.
Neatly controlling the ball, Golmei managed to outstep a couple of defenders and coolly slotted the ball home in the 57th minute to seal the match.
