Curtain raiser for 'Oorja' CAPF under-19 football tournament

On a sporty Friday evening at Khuman Lampak Stadium, Assam Rifles IGAR (S) organized the curtain raiser of 'OORJA' U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017 .
The tournament aims at promoting football before India hosts FIFA U-17 World Cup slated in Oct this year.
The chief guest at the event was Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, DG Assam Rifles.
Ms Laishram Sarita Devi, renowned boxer and the Brand Ambassador for the 10 day gala football event launched the tournament in which top eight boys and girls teams from the state will participate.
She appreciated the concept of 'OORJA' U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017 and stated that this endeavor will certainly go a long way in promoting the game of football not just in the state of Manipur but also across the nation.

A high energy packed cultural and traditional entertainment programme was organized in front of a large crowd.
Two trophies to be awarded to the winning boys & girls teams and named after the epic Manipuri football stars Mr Potsangbam Renedy Singh and Ms Oinam Bembem Devi were also unveiled on the occasion.

Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan, while addressing the enthusiastic audience, reiterated that the Assam Rifles is committed to implementing the great vision of our honourable Prime Minister i.e.'Mission 11 Million' for promoting the game of football and showcasing the hidden talent of Manipur.
As part of his visit program to the state, Lt Gen Shokin Chauhan accompanied by IG AR(South) Maj Gen Virendra Singh also called on Her Excellency Dr Najma Heptulla, honorable Governor of Manipur.
During the meeting lasting more than 40 minutes, several important issues involving the state were discussed.
