Many extend best wishes to Tokyo bound Olympians

The Rotary Club of Imphal has extended warm wishes and prayers to all athletes representing India at the Tokyo Games, especially five athletes from Manipur to perform their best and bring laurels to the Country and the State.
In its continued effort to promote native sportspersons, life size hoarding boards with photographs of all five Manipuri athletes participating in Tokyo Games 2020- MC Mary Kom (Boxing), Saikhom Mirabai Chanu (Weightlifting), Sushila Chanu Pukhrambam (Hockey), S Nilakanta Sharma (Hockey) and Sushila Likmabam (Judo), have been put up in front of Rotary Club Bhavan at Mantripukhri along NH2 and Lamlong Keithel to boost their morals, said Rotary Club of Imphal in a press release.
Rotary Club of Imphal has been honouring sportsperson of the State every year with 'Rtn Bijay Jain Memorial Award for Rotary Sportsperson of the Year' and 'Senator Okram Rotary Footballer of the Year', the release said.
'Rtn Bijay Jain Memorial Award for Rotary Sportsperson of the Year' for 2020-21 was awarded to Ngangom Bala and 'Senator Okram Rotary Footballer of the Year' to Thounaojam Bipin Singh this year, it added.
Communist Party of India Manipur State Committee and Co-ordinating Body Khurai wished all the Tokyo bound Olympians from Manipur for a great showdown at Tokyo Olympics slated to start from July 23.In different statements issued by CPI MSC and Co-ordinating Body Khurai, the two organisation said that the whole of Manipur is rooting for the 5 Olympians from the State and prayed that they will come out with flying colours.
Manipur Veterans Hockey Association (MVHA) also extended best wishes to all the 5 Olympians from Manipur.
