Football Lovers emerge champions of Major Bob Khathing Memorial Football tourney

Kohima, March 13 2023: This year's edition of Major Bob Khathing Memorial Football Tournament concluded today, after 13 days of exhilarating and intense competition between 20 teams from Manipur.

A press release issued by PIB (Defence Wing) said that the final was played at Mission Veng Ground, Leimakhong between the Football Lovers team from Chinmang Village, Senapati and Brother FC from Sapormeina village, Senapati.

Football Lovers were crowned champions after defeating Brother FC.

Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam was the chief guest of the closing ceremony and he felicitated both the teams.

The Sports Minister commended the Red Shield Division for providing an opportunity to the local youth to showcase their talent.

The tournament was a resounding success, bringing together football enthusiasts from across the region.

It has not only provided a platform for the young players to showcase their skills but also helped the communities to come together and celebrate the spirit of sportsmanship, it added.
