MCA T20 Luwangpokpa Trophy Model edge past NAPSA, Champ thump PSC

Model Club, Singjamei edged past NAPSA, Kha-Imphal by 2 runs while Champ, Khagem-palli trounced PSC, Kwakeithel by 55 runs in the ongoing MCA T20 Luwangpokpa Trophy underway at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, Luwang-shangbam today.
In the first match of the day, Model Club won the toss and opted to bat first and their frontline batsmen did well to take advantage of the pitch and managed to find the gaps among the fielders with some deft shots.
The bowlers of NAPSA kept to a good line and length but the batsmen of Model Club rose to the occasion and went only after the loose balls to frustrate the bowlers of NAPSA.

Leading from the front Al Bashid of Model Club did well to pick the balls and managed a well made 43 runs off only 42 balls.
Though the runs came quickly, Al Bashid did not really open his bat but waited for the loose balls to come to him and he did that clinically.
Al Bashid was well supported by Iboyaima who made a composed 15 runs off 21 balls and Tejkumar who scored 13 runs off 19 balls.
For NAPSA, Simon led the way in tying down the batsmen and managed to scalp two wickets with some clever bowling.
Simon however did not receive the needed support from the other end and only Mathew and Prameshwor were among the wickets with one wicket each.
The innings of Model Club folded up for 98 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Faced with a target of 99 runs to win the match, NAPSA started tentatively with the batsmen preferring to wait for the loose balls without really opening their bat.
On the other hand, the bowlers of Model Club kept to a tight line and length and managed to keep the batsmen of NAPSA tied down.
Simon of NAPSA made a patient 24 runs off 44 balls to take his team within striking distance.
Premananda extended good support with some quick running and big hits in totalling a run a ball score of 23 runs.
Ranjan also made a quick 19 runs off only 18 balls.
Mangi and Bishorjit of Model Club managed to scalp one wicket each.
However the overs soon ran out and the innings of NAPSA folded up for 96 runs for the fall of 6 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, handing the match to Model Club by 2 runs.
For his knock of 43 runs off 42 balls, Al Bashid of Model Club walked away with the man of the match title.
In the second match of the day, Champ, Khagempalli thumped PSC, Kwakeithel by 55 runs.
The bulk of the scoring for Champ was done by Alai who made an entertaining 34 runs off 36 balls, Kennedy who made a quickfire 30 runs off only 19 balls and Bonny who made 26 runs off 27 balls.
For PSC, Gautam led the charge in capturing 4 wickets but the other bowlers could not capitalise with the exception of Kala and Tenao who bagged one wicket each.
At the end of 20 overs, Champ had scored 139 runs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Faced with the task of scoring 140 runs for a win, the batsmen of PSC however folded up quickly and they were out bundled out for 84 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 6 wickets.
Kennedy of Champ was awarded the man of the match title for his quick 30 runs off only 19 balls and for bagging one wicket.
