CRAU clinch 5th MNCA Plate tournament title

CRAU, Khamnam Bazar emerged champions of the 5th MNCA Plate Tournament organised by Manipur Cricket Association as they beat WYC, Thoubal Wangkhem by 1 wickets in a closely fought final match today at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College Cricket Ground.
WYC, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and posted a total of moderate 183 runs for 7 in the stipulated 40 overs riding on Shangkar's knock of 74 runs in 82 balls.
CRAU had to face a tough in the chase but Rishi withstood late pressure and added 23 runs in the last wicket stand to help CRAU reach the target and seal the tournament title with only one ball left to play.
Priyobrata M (30) and Rajesh (21) also contributed in WYC innings which saw CRAU's Jotin, Uttam and Ajay share two wickets each.
Meanwhile, Dennis provided CRAU an early flourish in reply with the highest knock of 44 runs in 38 balls while Rakesh added 35 runs after Bimol departed on 20.Priyobarta of WYC snapped three wickets to pile up pressure on the Khamnam Bazar batting lineup but it went in vain as Rishi played sensibly to steer his team to the victory.
Shangkar and Rajesh of WYC also fetched two wickets but in a losing cause.
Eventually, Dennis was named man of the match for his worthy contribution of 44 runs.
Winners, CRAU were feted with a cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 along with certificates and trophy and runners up, WYC got Rs 70,000 with certificates and trophy.
Sougrakpam Shangkar Singh of WYC, who had 274 runs and 14 wickets (in 7 innings) in his name, was adjudged man of the series and feted with a cash prize of Rs 10,000 along with certificate and a trophy.
Meanwhile, Ayekpam Rakesh Singh of CRAU who scored a total of 289 runs in 7 innings earned the highest run scorer accolade which carries a cash prize of Rs 5,000, a certificate and a trophy.
Winning the highest wicket taker award was Khaikhotinlal Haokip of semi-finalists Muvanlai who claimed as many as 22 wickets in 7 innings.
He was also feted with a cash prize of Rs 5,000, a certificate and a trophy.
