Nemcha Kipgen kicks off the TNFLC Football Centenary

Nemcha Kipgen, today kicks off the Tangkhul Naga France Labour Corps Football Centenary amidst much fanfare, which is organised by the Tangkhul Naga France Labour Corps at Tangkhul Naga Long Ground, Ukhrul District.
During the commemoration of the 100th year legacy of football games by the Tangkhul community, Minister expressed "The Tangkhul Labour Corps (Football Team) which played in France in 1917, a hundred years ago must have been taken as part of the Labour Corps from Manipur in which men from many communities of the State had been enlisted to support the war with the essential supplies to sustain it.
The fact that the Tangkhul Labour Corps had the idea and the enthusiasm to form their own football team is a true reflection of their strength, energy, vigour, sportsmanship and general positive attitude."

She asserted that football is one such sport that is catching up in a big way in the country as a very good source of livelihood.
This has attracted many of our sports talents who have been able to bring laurels for the country and the State.
Mary Kom is one shining example of tremendous success in sports.
Minister Nemcha reminded the gatherings that Manipur is proudly considered as the sports power house of India and further encouraged all to take forward to ensure our youth will shines further in the field of sports and will brings more laurels for the country.
On this occasion, Minister Nemcha also highlights the recently launched 'Chief Minister Gi Shottharaba Singgi Tengbang (CMST)' under her department and urged the people to be aware about such schemes so that those deserving beneficiaries will get what they deserve.
As part of the occasion, Araang Football League was also started in the presence of the Minister and the huge gatherings of the football lovers of the district.
