12th Manipur State League DM RAO spank NISA; Muvanlai, NACO share spoils

Dimapur Road Athletic Organisation (DM RAO), Sekmai spanked North Imphal Sporting Association (NISA), Thangmeiband 4-1 while NACO, Nambul Mapal and Muvanlai Athletics, Sadar Hills shared one apiece in today’s matches of the ongoing 12th Manipur State League .
DM RAO and NISA were desperate to move out from the relegation zone.
Both sides made an impressive start .
DM RAO were awarded a penalty kick in the 24th minute when defender L David of NISA committed a foul inside the box while trying to stop M Sana Shah who was rushing in for a nice attempt.

Y Sushilkumar, who stepped up to take the kick and he made no mistake in converting it into a goal to open the account of DM RAO.
NISA then pushed hard to restore parity but failed considerably.
DM RAO extended the lead by 2-0 when striker Y Sushilkumar found the net again in the 43rd minute.
After the recess, NISA who were down by two goals started their raids.
Their efforts yielded positive result when KH Joly made a fine run and struck a well carved shot in the 53rd minute to reduce the deficit by one goal.
They went on with more attacks to level the score but were unsuccessful as the defence lines of DM RAO stuck firm disallowing every move from the opponents .
Taking the advantage of the exhausted defence line of NISA, DM RAO restarted their offensive run in the dying minutes.
It was a magical moment for DM RAO as they were successful in adding two more goals one after another when Krishnananda and Khongreiyo of DM RAO took their turns in the 89th and 90th minute respectively to wrap the match 4-1 .
With this win, DM Rao rose to 5th place with 9 points from 6 matches .
In the second encounter between, Muvanlai protested the decision of the referee for ignoring a foul by BK Meitei which they demanded a penalty kick.
But in the 34th minute, they got a penalty kick when goalkeeper Priyojit of NACO committed foul while trying to save a goal.
Haolengou Kipgen of Muvanlai Athletics took the kick and converted to hand his team the much needed lead.
The first half ended 1-0 in favour of Muvanlai Athletics.
After the breather, NISA shifted gears and started their raids using all flanks and the midfield and attempted goals but with little or no effect.
Rohit Hussain made a last ditch attempt on goal in the additional time and succeeded in drawing level.
Rohit Hussain collected a cross from Sovami SP and headed in a fine goal .
The draw did not make much change for NACO as they remained at the bottom of the league table while Muvanlai Athletics were placed 8th with 6 points in 6 matches.
