Imphal, April 02 2017:
Congress MLA from Sagolband AC and president of Manipur Cricket Association (MCA), RK Imo has stated that without tapping talent and instilling the love of the game at the grass root level, it would be hard for cricket players from Manipur to shine at the National and international level.
The president of MCA said this at the sidelines of a function held to celebrate the inclusion of Manipur Cricket Association as a full fledged member of BCCI at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium at Luwangshangbam today.

Secretary of MCA Sinam Priyananda and treasurer Peter and other office bearers of MCA were present during the interaction with media persons.
RK Imo said that now Manipur has got full voting rights in the BCCI and added that to develop cricket in the State stress must be put on developing talent at the grassroots level.
To develop cricket there is a need to tap talents at the school level, college level, sub-junior level and junior level, added the MLA.
If these stages are overlooked then Manipur will not be able to produce world class cricketers, he added.
It is towards this end that the State Government had put a proposal to instal flood lighting systems at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium, added the MLA.
Since Manipur has now become a full fledged member of BCCI, funds may not a problem, if the guidelines of the BCCI are strictly adhered to, he added. To promote cricket, there is the need to let the game reach all the sections of people, said the MLA.
The MLA also extended his best wishes to the Manipur Cricket team for the 6th All India Invitation MP Verma Unity Cup Cricket Tournament scheduled to be held from April 4 to 12 at Patna.
The tournament will be organised by Bihar Cricket Association.
