Governor's Cup Polo Tournament : Chingkheihunba Polo Club to meet MPSC-B in final

Chingkheihunba Polo Club
(CHPC) will lock horns
tomorrow with MPSC-B in the
final showdown of the ongoing
28th Governor's Cup Invitation
Polo Tournament 2018 (men's)
organised by Manipur Horse
Riding and Polo Association at
Mapal Kangjeibung today.
In the first semi final match
of the day, MPSC-B posted a
huge 8-4 win against MPSC-
A to book their place in the
final while Chingkheihunba
Polo Club edged out X Polo
Club by a narrow 4-3 margin
and set up final clash with
MPSC-B.
In the first match between
MPSC-A and MPSC-B, the
latter rode on T Pradeepkumar
to register a 4-1 lead in the
first chukker.
T Pradeepkumar
struck the opener in the
2.12nd minute before he
chipped in his second goal in
the 4.54th minute.
The second goal for his
team was struck by M Jawan
while the last goal came in the
6.04th minute from the stick
of H Abung Khuman.
The
single goal of the losing side
was scored by Th Ranjit in
the 5.08th minute of the first
chukker.
The second chukker saw
MPSC-A add two goals, one
each by P Jotin and Th Ranjit
while star of the day,
Pradeepkumar (MPSC-B)
shot in one goal to make it 5-
3. The third chukker
witnessed both teams regis-
tered one goal each from
Pradeepkumar and S
Abungcha of MPSC-A.
The 6-4 lead did not sat-
isfy MPSC-B and it were O
Suresh Singh and M Jawan
who took their turns to score
in the 6.34th and 6.47th
minute and sealed the game
8-4 in style.
In the second semi final
match of the tournament, L
Kokeshwor shone in the last
chukker with two goals and
gave his team a final berth.

Polo Club took the lead until
second chukker through one
goal each chukker from P
Ojit.
CHPC opened their ac-
count in the second chukker
with the help of A Basanta
Singh who rode deep in op-
ponents' before hammering
the goal in the 7.19th minute.
CHPC relied on T Leishemba
to level the score at 2-2
through a goal in the 4.30th
minute of the third chukker.
Kokeshwor was able to
break the deadlock in the
0.30th minute of the last
chukker but the lead was
short-lived as Th Jackop of X
Polo Club hammered in the
equaliser in the 1.16th minute.
CHPC did slackened back
and it was Kokeshwor who
made the difference in the
7.21st minute and finished the
game 4-3 .
