Sub-Junior National Football C’ship : Manipur, Orissa reach quarter finals

Manipur and Orissa entered the quarter finals of the ongoing Sub-junior National Football Championship 2017 organised by All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) under the supervision of All India Football Federation today at District Sports Complex, Kodompokpi .
In the group A second leg, Manipur thrashed Himachal Pradesh 9-1 to make their way into the quarter finals.
Though the opening match between the two teams ended in a 1-1 stalemate, Naorem Priyanka and S Linda Kom today pumped in 5 and 4 goals respectively to hand Manipur an emphatic win today .
It was Himachal Praddesh’s Riya Sharma who struck the opener early in the 5th minute but Priyanka and Linda of Manipur took their turns to make the scoreline 9-1 at the end of the regulation time.
Priyanka scored her 5 goals in the 23′, 47′, 78′, 80′ and 87′ while Linda scored the 4 in the 52′, 77′, 82′ and 90′ .
In a group C league match played at 8.30 am, Delhi beat Madhya Pradesh by 2-0 margin while Orissa thumped Rajathan 10-0 at 12 pm in a group D league match .
Chhatisgarh also slashed Uttar Pradesh 5-0 in a group B league match played at 2 pm .
Delhi’s Gauri Janghra and Abeka Singha scored the winning two goals in the 24th minute and 83rd minute against Madhya Pradesh which thrashed Jammu and Kashmir 17-0 in the previous match .
The match between Delhi and Jammu and Kashmir slated on October 30 will decide the group winner which will qualify for the quarter finals .
Orissa which struck the opener late in the 40th minute struck nine goals through Soronina (40′), Krishna Barikh (45′, 71′), Sumitra Hembram (51′, 74′), Jahabi Kishan (76′, 82′), Sarita Soren (78′, 84′).An own goal by Rajasthan’s Yashbi Jethi in the 54th minute made the scoreline 0-10 to hand Orissa the quarter final birth .
In a one sided group B league match, Poonam (25′, 53′), Pooja (50′, 68′) and Anju (53′) of Chhatisgarh summed up the 5 goals against Uttar Pradesh .
Bihar will face Uttarakhand in a group F league match tomorrow at 8 am.
Kerala will play Maharashtra in a group G league match at 11 am while in the last league match, group E teams, Mizoram and West Bengal will fight against one another.
