ITPC, IRC clinch Governor's Cup Polo titles

Ibudhou Thangjing Polo Club notched a slender 5-4 victory over MPSC-B to clinch the 27th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, 2017 while Imphal Riding Club registered a comfortable 4-0 win over K&MM Riding School to claim the 16th Governor's Cup Women's Polo Tournament, 2017 organised by Manipur horse Riding and polo Association today at Mapal Kangjeibung.
In the 16th Governor's Cup Womens' Polo Tournament, 2017 final, Imphal Riding Club drubbed K&MM Riding School 4-0 .
Kh Habe and Kh Devenly took the leads for IRC in the first chukker.
A Romabati struck one to extend the lead of IRC in the third chukker.
Kh Habe scored her second in the third chukker and that eventually sealed easy victory for IRC.
Even as K&MM Riding School players exhibited their best, they failed to score a single goal during the match.
Winners' team got richer by Rs 15,000 while the runners up team got Rs 10,000 .
In a spectacular final of the 27th Governor's Cup Invitation Polo Tournament, 2017, ITPC registered a narrow 5-4 win over MPSC-B.Right from the start, the match gained momentum and turned lively as the two teams took turn to score goals one after another.
It was T Pradeep Kumar of MPSC-B who handed the lead to his team in the first chukker.
However, ITPC's P Ojit cancelled out the lead in a span of one minute.
Not long after, Th Kaoba handed another lead to MPSC-B only to be levelled by M Manihar of ITPC in the first chukker.
The two teams pushed hard to alter the score line in the second chukker.
Even as L Kokeshwor managed to strike a goal in the dying minutes of the second chukker, MPSC-B could not score a goal.
P Ojit and I Khaba scored a goal each for ITPC and MPSC-B in the third chukker.
A goal each was scored by M Manihar of ITPC and T Pradeep Kumar of MPSC-B in the last chukker.
The winning team, ITPC, were presented Rs 50,000 while the runners up team got Rs 30,000 .
The closing ceremony of the tournament was graced by CAF&PD Minister Karam Shyam; IFCD and YAS Minister Letpao Haokip; and Dy Chairman of MSPB S Rajen as the dignitaries.
