Reliance Academy, Luwangsangbam made it to the semi-finals of the U-14 boys competition of the District Level Subroto Mukerjee Football Tournament being organised by District Youth Affairs and Sports Office, Imphal East (for U14 and U17 boys) after beating Leirenjao HS, Heingang 4-2 on penalties at Turf Ground.
Princeton International School, Khetrigao also booked the semi-final berth with a 2-1 comeback win against Azad High School.
Reliance Academy and Leirenjao HS played out a 1-1 during normal time as the latter team's lead off Jetlee's 19th minute strike was cancelled by Boinao of Reliance Academy in the 28th minute.
In the shoot-out Th Santosh, Elex and Milan scored for the Luwangsangbam side but Masterjit was the only player who converted the spot kick for the Heingang side.
In another quarter final clash of the competition, Princeton International School rallied back from 1 goal down to Azad HS in the first half to earn a 2-1 win and set up semi-final meeting with Unique Model Academy Heingang tomorrow.
Shyamson scored in the 3rd minute to give Azad HS a good start but things turn around in the second half as Sharif (30') and Afjai Shan (35') grabbed a goal each to hand Princeton Intl School a 2-1 edge.
U-17 Boys
The final line up of the U-17 boys competition was completed today as Unique Model Academy and Reliance Academy emerge victorious against their rivals in the semi-final matches.
Unique Model Academy reached the final with a clinical 3-0 win against Ramananda HS today courtesy of goals by Kh Sanamacha (14'), T Paskel (27') and Prabin (39).Reliance Academy on the other hand reached the final with a 2-1 win against Yourbung HS.
Reliance Academy enjoyed a 1-0 lead through Malemnganba's strike in the 23rd minute for a better portion of the game but YHS pulled level in the 55th minute with the help of N Arjun to come to level terms.
The game almost ended in a 1-1 draw as the two sides failed to fine the difference till normal time but luck favoured Reliance Academy and it was Sunil who grabbed the winner during the stoppage time and earned his team a place in the final.
