The 18th Sub-Junior National Baseball Championship will be kicked off at Mapal Kangjeibung here at 3.30 pm today.
The championship is being organised by the Manipur Amateur Baseball Association under the aegis of Amateur Baseball Federation of India.
Till date, boys and girls teams of Chatishgarh, Maharastra, Delhi, West Bengal, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Goa and Haryana have arrived at Imphal.
Besides host teams of Manipuri boys and girls, boys teams for the State of Gujarat, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir have already arrived earlier.
Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Uttaranchal teams are also informed to be on the way to Imphal.
To oversee that the championship is a success, secretary of the Amateur Baseball Federation of India PC Bharat and treasurer Rabinkumar have arrived at Imphal.
The federation's president Ramakant S Angalay will also be arriving tomorrow.
The opening ceremony of the championship will be graced by Chairman of State Planning Board E Kunjakishore, MLA M Oken and president of Manipur Olympic Association E Binoykumar as chief guest, functional president and guest of honour respectively.
The championship will be played at two courts at Mapal Kangjeibung and another at SAI RC complex.
