Cyclone win BP-GP cricket final

Fine bowling by Homendro and Akshaykumar helped Cyclone, Thangmeiband wrest the title of first Brajabihari Paul and Govind Paul Memorial Trophy cricket tournament with an emphatic eight wickets victory over Champ, Khagempali in the summit clash at Luwangpokpa Cricket Stadium today.
Besides Homendro and Akshaykumar sharing eight of the rival scalps, Shashikumar also claimed two Champ batsmen to bundle out the opponents in 17.5 overs with only 46 runs on the board in the 30-over game after the Khagempali side was put into bat first.
Even though Cyclone lost two quick wickets in the victory chase, Narsingh's patient knock of 28 off 35 ensured his team overhaul the target without further hiccup as Cyclone scored 47 runs in 14.1 over.
The champions were awarded Rs 50,000 and runners-up Rs 30,000 .
In addition to claiming the man of the final match award Homendro also walked away with the best bowler of the tournament title, that tallied up his combined cash bounty to Rs 600.K Priyojit of TRAU was declared man of the tournament carrying Rs 5000 award, as Ksh Narsingh bagged the best batsmen honour (Rs 3000) .
The tournament actually began on May 2 but owing to various reasons the final was played today, informed tournament organisers.
