CSC emerge overall team champions of 35th State Age Group Aquatic Championship

Central Swimming Club (CSC of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal) swimmers maintained their fine forms to claim the overall team title 19 gold, 10 silver and 1 bronze medals at the 35th State Age Group Aquatic Championship organised by Manipur Swimming Association at Swimming Pool, Khuman Lampak today.
Maharaj Garibniwaj Memorial Club (MGMC) managed 10 gold, 13 silver and 11 bronze medals to finish runners up in this championship.

Freestyle: N Naoba Sharma of CSC added yet another gold to his unit finishing first in the 100 m freestyle event for Boys III category with a time of 1:09.778 while MGMC's H Telheiba and Richie Achom of NLM finished second and the third.
In the 50 m freestyle event for the same age group, Th Goutam of MGMC bagged yet another gold medal for his unit by clocking 30.521 seconds while H Naoba Sharma of CSC (31.494 seconds) and H Telheiba (31.839 seconds) finished second and third for the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
H Alish Singh of CSC (28.540 seconds) and S Athouba of CSC (28.641) and Mahananda Th of MGMC (29.086 seconds) were able to fetch gold, silver and bronze medal respectively in the 50 m Boys II freestyle event.
In the 100 m freestyle event, Dekalu Th Panmei of CSC took 1:10.550 to win the 100 m freestyle gold while Adishree Thounaojam of MGMC and M Binita of MGMC finished second and third.
Dekalu Panmei also claimed the 200 m freestyle gold as she finished the course in 2 minutes 37.310 seconds while MGMC's M Binita and H Alpika of MGMC secured the second and third place.
MGMC's Hiren Shagolshem (26.559 seconds) and S Punshiba Meitei (27.700 seconds) claimed the 50 m freestyle event for Boys I category while M Sayonnganba of HLSYDO finished third for the bronze medal.
L Jessica of MGMC was able to win the 400 m event for Girls II category by taking 1 minute 33.454 seconds while Yaiphabi Th of ESU and H Alpika Chanu of MGMC finished second and third.
Breaststroke: N Jedon of KKDA bagged a gold medal in the 100 m breaststroke event for Boys II age group with a time of 1 minute 18.781 seconds while Mahananda Thokchom of MGMC and S Telheiba of NLM claimed the silver and the bronze medals.
K Kevashri of TYC took 43.060 seconds to win the 50 m breaststroke gold while L Ritika Chanu of CSC (45.526 sec) and Gaitri Thoudam of ESU (54.093 sec) bagged silver and bronze medals respectively.
N Jason of KKDA claimed the 50 m breast-stroke title for Boys II category with a time of 32.612 seconds while MGMC's Mahananda Thokchom and NLM's Telheiba secured the second and the third spot.
Butterfly: S Athouba Meitei of MGMC took 30.789 seconds to win the 50 m butterfly event for Boys II age group while Avinash of SEDOC and L Rakesh Singh of CSC finished the course in 33.140 seconds and 33.990 seconds to settle for the silver and the bronze medal.
Backstroke: L Ritika of CSC fetched another gold medal for her unit with the best time of 41.669 seconds in the 50 m backstroke event for Girls III age group while Gaitri Thoudam and H Angela Devi of NLM finished second and third.
L Jessica of MGMC finished first in the 50 m backstroke event with a time of 35.906 seconds while Yaiphabi Th and Adishree Devi of MGMC claimed the silver and the bronze medal respectively.
In the 100 m backstroke event for Girls III age group, L Ritika of CSC won the gold medal making the top position with a time of 1 minute 33 seconds while Gaitri Thoudam of ESU (1:44.500) and H Angela of NLM (1:47.460) secured the second and the third spots.
The closing ceremony of this three day championship, participated by 105 male and 65 athletes from across 18 affiliated units of Manipur Swimming Association, was graced by Y Budhachandra Singh, joint secretary, Swimming Federation of India; M Muhindro Singh, Deputy Director, Training and Coaching, YAS and Th Shyamsunder Singh, president, Manipur Swimming Association as dignitaries who also feted champions team, runners up and other podium finishers.
