Manipur continue to lead with 67 medals in 8th Thang-Ta Federation Cup

Imphal, June 14 2019:
Manipur team added 46 gold, 4 silver and 6 bronze on the 2nd day of 8th Thang-Ta Federation Cup 2019 organised by All Tripura Thang-Ta Association under the aegis of Thang-Ta Federation of India at Swami Viveknanda Sardha Satarbakshi Bhawan, Dharamnagar, North Tripura and continued to lead the medal tally with a total of 67 medals including 56 gold, 5 silver and 6 bronze medals.
Tripura stood at second position with 5 gold, 15 silver and 11 bronze.

Sub-junior boys
In the Phunaba Ama events, the Manipur team added 8 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze medals on the second day of the event.
H Priyobarta Luwang handed the first gold for Manipur on the second day in -21 kg event while Dhanajit Wangkhem grabbed the 2nd gold in the -25 kg event after beating Anirban Nath of Assam.
T Rohit Singh emerged winner in the -29 kg competition who got better off Aryan Raj Sharma of Meghalaya in the final while L Ashamani Meitei added another gold in the -37 kg category defeating Sumit Sharma of Assam.
In -41 kg category, H Ridesh Singh outclassed Kabir Singh of Tripura to clinch the gold medal while L Deepak Singh outperformed Malemnganba Singh of Assam in -45 kg event to take the gold medal.
Ph Bishorjit Meetei bagged the gold medal in -53 kg event beating Nilakanta Ningthoujam Meitei representing Nagaland while K Khuraingakpa Meitei fetched gold in +53 kg event defeating Akeel Ahmad Rather in the final.
Victor Raj Ngangom and Th Badankumar Singh contended with silver and bronze medals in the -33 kg amd -49 kg events respectively.
In the Phunaba Anishuba events, the State team displayed exceptional performances in all the categories bagging gold in all events.
K Loveson Singh kick started the momentum by winning gold in the -37 kg event beating Vishav Dogra of J&K while S Rabinash Singh handed another gold in the -41 kg event defeating Saliq Ul Islam in the final.
In -45 kg event, Manipur's S Nongyai Meitei overpowered Kashif Nisar of J&K in the final to clinch the gold while L Borish Sharma collected gold in -49 kg event overcoming J&K player Zaid Bin Iqbal.
Dinesh Khaidem and Y Punachand Singh added two more golds in the -53 kg and +53 kg events respectively.
Junior boys
State's junior boys team also exhibited dominating performances in all categories of Phunaba Ama claiming 8 golds.
Ch Rishikanta Singh boosted the team morale with his exceptional skills in the -44 kg event against Abijit Sarkar of Assam to hand first gold of the category while Biyash Ningthoujam added the second gold beating Aakash of Delhi in -48 kg event.
S Bikram Singh also stepped his best foot forward to clinch the gold of -52 kg event against strong opponent Arban Khan of J&K which was followed by K Chetanjit Singh's gold in -56 kg event.
Other gold medal winners in Junior boys categories (Phunaba Ama) include M Arbin Meitei (-60 kg), L Dravid Singh (-65 kg), Th Malemnganba Luwang (-80 kg) and Sapam Pritamjit Singh (+80 kg).
On the other hand, in Phunaba Anishuba, Manipur team added 7 gold and 2 bronze medal.
Sh Roseland Singh (-48 kg), Y Umakanta Singh (-52 kg), M Tuljit Khuman (-56 kg), Kh Tompok Singh (-60 kg), Dijen Sagolshem (-65 kg), Ch Abash Singh (-75 kg) and A Satyajit Singh (-80 kg) were the gold medal winner while S Fasker Meitei (-44 kg) and Y Rohit Singh (-70 kg) finished with bronze medals.
Sub-junior girls
In the Phunaba Anishuba event, State team collected 8 gold medals and 1 bronze medals.
H Yaipahabi Devi won another gold in the -21kg by defeating Sneh Pal of Tripura.
L Nibashinu of Manipur beat Nisha Sinha, representing Tripura, in -25kg event to claim the gold.
W Korea Chanu got gold medal in -29kg event.
L Alichia Devi overthrew Lovely Sinha of Tripura in the -33kg event and took the gold medal while L Deviya Devi, representing the State's got bronze medal in -37kg event.
Chandani Sunar of Manipur also won gold medal after conquering Reziya Praveen of Delhi in the -41kg bout while Th Pushparani Devi outperformed Mizoram girl's Lalmuanengi in below 45kg event and fetched the top title.
S Malemnganbi Chanu and S Rojika Chanu added two more golds to the State's tally after defeating their opponents in below and above 53kg events respectively.
Junior girls
Altogether 8 medals (5 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze) were fetched by State's girls in the Phunaba Ama event for Junior girls.
Though the final bout for the gold medal in below 40kg event was little upsetting for the State as O Tombisana Devi fell short to Kainat of Jammu and Kashmir, she contributed a silver medal to the State's tally.
In the -44kg bout, L Sophiya Chanu defeated Ansa Gulzar of J&K and fetch the top title for the State while Ng Jibanlata Devi got bronze medal in below 48kg event.
H Alee Chanu won another gold for the State in -52kg category while Rangia Samom was beaten by L Monita Chanu of Assam in the gold medal bout of -56kg category.
Th Priyangka Chanu, Ingalsana Thaoroijam and L Shelly Devi won three more gold medals for the State in below 60, 65 and 70 kgs events respectively, however, Manipur team fails to win medal in below 75kg and above 75kg category.
