Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial Cricket tourney begins; Convincing win for PTRC, Patsoi

Jotin Pheiroijam's quickfire of 41 runs of 21 balls and 5-wickets haul powered PTRC, Patsoi to a comfortable 56 runs win over YWC, Langthabal in the opening match of the 1st MCA Under-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Singh Memorial trophy 2019 at YCWO, Sagolband Heinoupok ground today.
A total of 12 teams divided into two groups will battle it out for the top prize in the tournament to be hosted at two different ground at YCWO, Sagolband Heinoupok Ground and Langthabal Public Ground.
The opening match was graced by Chongtham Chaoba Singh, vice-president, Manipur Cricket Association; Sinam Priyananda Singh, secy Manipur Cricket Association; Thokchom Joykumar Singh, chairman Tournament Committee; Dr Naorem Iboton Singh, former Dean, CAU, Imphal; Nandeibam Ibobi Singh, president YCWO and Thokchom Dijen Singh, secy YCWO as dignitaries.
Batting first after winning the toss, PTRC, Patsoi posted a decent score of 108 runs all out in 21.2 overs riding on 41 runs (21 balls) from Jotin Pheiroijam superbly aided by Joyraj scoring 19 runs (31 balls) and Ravi Sahu's 12 runs of 28 balls.
Sheram Robinson was the most successful bowler for YWC, Langthabal dismissing 4 wickets while Saubam Robinson and S Dailish took 2 wickets each.
H Manikanta and N Herojit also chipped in to collect one wicket each.
Chasing 108, YWC, Langthabal were bowled out at 53 runs in 12.3 overs.
P Rohit scored 26 runs facing 34 balls while Saubam Robinson and N Richard added 5 runs each.
For PTRC, Patsoi, Jotin Pheiroijam's 5-wickets haul destroyed batting line-up of YWC, Langthabal while Nishi dismissed 2 wickets and Joyraj and Pritam took 1 wicket each.
Jotin Pheiroijam was declared man of the match for scoring 41 runs of 21 balls and 5-wickets haul.
Tomorrow's match: CRAU, Khamnam Keithel will meet Model Club, Chingamakha at 10 am at Heinoupok ground while OSCAR, Paona Bazar will square off with Al-Ameen, Lilong at Langthabal ground.
