1st MNCA U-14 Tournament : Y Benson picks five as PTRC stroll into final

Benson Yumnarn clinched 5 wickets to ensure PTRC thrashed PTCC in an all-Patsoi semi-final showdown in the 1st MNCA U-14 tournament here at PTRC ground.
Opting to bat first, PTCC were skittled out for a paltry 98 total in 14.5 overs by PTRC courtesy Benson Yumnam's fine bowling performance and PTRC chased down the target in 18.1 overs at the cost of three wickets to book the final ticket.
Benson Yumnam was into action early on and found the breakthrough in the second over as he bowled out Lanleiba for 5 .
Hiras Akham then edged Laitonjam James to PTRC wicketkeeper Stone to walk out on duck before Benson collected his second scalp by bowling out Dhirendrakishor Naorem on 14 for the third wicket.
With Ngambarel Naoshekpam removing Taorem Nelson for 5 and Ambison Salam getting run out, PTCC slipped to 20 for 5 in 6.3 overs.
Chingakham Nikhil who came in for the fifth wicket, played anchor for PTCC saw his partners continue to tumble before he succumbed for the 9th wicket to Laitonjam James with a total of 62 off 27 balls which contained 5 fours and 6 sixes.
Before Nikhil's departure, Benson had removed Somobanta (1) in the 8th over before completing his five-for by removing Kamajit Mayanglambam (1) and Daniel (0) in the second and third deliveries of the 10th over.
Laitonjam James then wrapped up the innings by removing Devas Tongbram for 1 in the 15th over and finished with the bowling figures of 3/17 in 4.5 overs.
In reply, Salam Richie (26) and Robinson Sougaijam (29) set the momentum before Stoneson (27 off 15 balls) and Laitonjam James (6 off 8 balls) steered PTRC to a winning 102 for 3 in 18.1 overs.
Kamajit Mayanglambam and Somabanta took a wicket each in this innings.
Eventually Benson who claimed five wickets by spilling 15 runs in 6 overs to stem PTCC's batting implode, was adjudged man of the match.
