5th Manipur State League football concludes

NISA, thangmeiband and AIM, Khabam carved out identical 1-0 victories against their respective second leg opponents but the result had no effect on leaders TRAU, Kwakeithel wresting the title of the 5th Manipur State League football tournament that concluded at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium today.
N Jimmy scored the NISA matchwinner against SSU, Singjamei in the 70th minute and helped the Thangmeiband side secure the runners-up spot with a competition total of 46 points, three behind TRAU.
The first leg match between NISA and SSU had ended in a goalless draw.
Earlier, AIM overcame NEROCA, Shangakpham with a Kh Naoton goal in the 39th minute.
The win put AIM in fourth position at 33 points and on better goal average than NEROCA, who won the first leg match 2-1. Manipur Police Sports Club finished third at 44 points.
Champions TRAU were awarded Rs 2 lakhs and NISA Rs 1 lakh as SSU bagged the Fair Play Trophy carrying cash prize of Rs 50,000. In all nine teams had taken part in the league competition organised by All Manipur Football Association.
