11th Manipur Veteran Cricket Championship : REYS crash to its third defeat

REYS Nagamapal crashed to its third defeat when it lost to Model Club by 27 runs in the ongoing 11th Manipur Veteran Cricket Championship today.
Despite a brilliant knock of 41 runs off only 28 balls by Mujibur Rehman and a valuable 33 runs off 23 balls, REYS succumbed to the penetrative bowling, spearheaded by Premkumar of Model Club who scalped five wickets.
On winning the toss, Model Club opted to bat and quickly rustled up a total of 136 runs for 10 wickets in 23.5 wickets.
Gulshan led the way for Model Club with a quick fire 39 off only 23 balls.
He was ably aided by Gourachandra who scored a painstaking 19 off 40 balls, Cherish 17 off 17 balls and Homeshor who milked 12 runs off 11 balls.
Mujibur Rehman of REYS also did a fine turn with the ball taking three wickets followed by Shreekanta with 2 wickets and Sanjit with one wicket.
Set a modest target of 137, REYS however could not live up to the moment, despite a brilliant 41 runs off 28 balls from Mujibur Rehman to be bowled out for 109 runs.
For his five wicket haul, which literally took the game away from REYS, Prem-kumar of Model Club was adjudged the man of the match.
