Imphal, April 12 2016:
Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the
cruel firing at Nungoi Meira Paibi has today demanded the author-
ity concerned to produce the miscreants involved in the firing
incident and award them befitting punishment within five days.
Addressing a press meet held at Manipur Press Club this
evening, Sanjoy Khaidem, convenor of the JAC told reporters
that the JAC was formed after a meeting was held after the
firing incident on April 11 night.
A few other resolutions were
also adopted.
Informing that three motorcycle borne youths fired few
rounds towards a group of womenfolk at around 8 pm of
April 11 causing injuries to 12 locals including two minor
girls and women, he explained the unfortunate incident hap-
pened when the womenfolk tried to stop the youths for talk
as they were driving up and down the road carrying a double
barrel gun thus creating panic in the area.
He further said that nine among the 12 injured locals in the
incident were treated in critical condition at Raj Medicity.
Pointing out that Meitei Nungoi Leikai is not secure as the
meagre population of just 472 from 74 houses residing in the
village could not defend themselves, he demanded the Government to establish a permanent police station in the village.
