A book of Naga history released

Retired Chief Justice WA Shishak released a book titled Naga History: Through a Clan and Tribe written by Home Raikhan at DRDA conference hall, Hamleikhong, Ukhrul, today, our correspondent reports.
The book deals with the oral traditions of Naga, Tangkhul history and the coming of Christianity to the Naga inhabited areas.
The book gives a clear detail of the various stages of migration, settlement, consolidation, confrontation, conglomeration and acceptance of modem ideas and beliefs by the clan and tribe.
The author believes that the cover picture of the book, taken in 1873, might be the first photograph of Tangkhul tradition attire.
He inherited the photograph from his forefathers, he stated.
The book makes an sequential analysis from oral tradition, pre-historic and legendary period of Nagas to determine the origin of the Naga and at the same time discusses the hypothetical period of Tangkhul and Naga settlement in the North East region.
WA Shishak said the book would be very helpful to young researchers, clansmen, tribesmen who yearns to know the origin and tradition of Nagas.
