Free Vitamin A for children between 6 months and 5 years and Albendazole for children between 1 year and 5 years will be available on all days at Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Health City Langol from 10 am to 4 pm.
Shija Vitamin A Project is to provide free Vitamin A supplements and Albendazole (a deworming medicine) to all children between 6 months and 5 years of age.
It is a collaborative effort of Shija Health Care & Research Institute and Vitamin Angels, a US based NGO, working with the sole objective of giving Vitamin A supplements to all children in developing countries, according to a statement.
A simple cost effective dose of vitamin A every six months can prevent childhood blindness and reduce the mortality among children under five years of age by 24%.VAD is the most common cause of preventable blindness in children under five years of age and improving a child's vitamin A status enhances eye health and vision, growth, and immune system.
