'Land Use Act before NFSA'
Source: The Sangai Express
Imphal, January 28 2014:
The Protection of Agriculture Land and Natural Resources Organisation (PALNRO) has urged the Govt to first formulate Agriculture Land Use Act before implementing the National Food Security Act (NFSA) so as to avoid complexity in the future.
A statement issued by PALNRO today said that the State Govt is all set to implement the NFSA in the State while ignoring the provision of Schedule 3 (1) (d) of the Act which prohibits unwarranted diversion of land and water from food production.
It also forewarned that the Govt would land in awkward situation in implementation of the NFSA if it ignores the particular provision of the Act.
