Manipur Pollution Control Board (MPCB) continued its drive against plastic/polythene bags with less than 50 micron thickness, at various shops in and around MG Avenue area today.
A large number of polythene bags were seized during the drive and the shopkeepers were instructed not to use such bags in the future.
Speaking to media persons, MPCB environmental scientist Kh Tomba said that as prior announcement was made that polythene bags less than 50 micron in thickness have been banned, actions will be taken up according to the law for the defaulters in the future.
He explained that the drive is for the welfare of the State and to protect the natural environment and as such, appealed to the people for proper support.
