Imphal, December 19 2014 :
Platform for Positive Women (PPW) has urged the MLAs of the State to put the matter of proper implementation of the welfare schemes for PLHIVs in the State Assembly during the ongoing Winter Session.
Speaking at a press conference held at Manipur Press Club, PPW volunteer Ningombam Mani said that free laboratory test facility for PLHIVs was not available in any hospital earlier.
However, in due course of time, the State Government has now introduced this facility at JNIMS Hospital, he added.
He further urged the Government to deliberate the points like providing nutrition support to all the PLHIVs, reservation in Government welfare schemes for PLHIVs (Smart card, job card, housing scheme etc), installation of viral load machine, ensuring easy access to medicines at designated centres and expediting admission reservation for OVC at recognised private schools.
Saying that children, who are deprived of parental care due to HIV/AIDS, want to earn their livelihood on their own, Mani urged the Government to provide them suitable support.
