Imphal, April 27 2016:
All Manipur Aided College Students' Union
(AMACSU) has warned of launching agitation in case normal
classes at Government Aided Colleges are not resumed within 5
days.
AMACSU convenor L Rajesh during a press meet held at
DESAM head office today said the union strongly condemns the
State Government's failure to address the demands of aided col-
lege teachers.
Since the All Manipur Aided College Teacher's
Association (AMACTA) launched its demand for conversion of
six Government aided colleges into full-fledged Government col-
leges, normal classes at these institutions have been largely
affected.
The State Government's failure to address the long stand-
ing demand of the teachers and its negligence towards the
development of the colleges indicates that aided colleges are not
wanted in the State any more, Rajesh asserted.
There are altogether 12,000 students registered at Govern-
ment Aided colleges all over the State.
AMACSU convenor has appealed the State Government to
resolve the issue at the earliest.
It has also appealed to the
protesting teachers to ensure that the academic atmosphere is
not disturbed by their protest.
The union will launch different forms of protests if the
State Government fails to attain an understanding with
AMACTA within 5 days, he added.
