Forest areas rise

Imphal, February 13 2018:
According to the Forest Survey of India's 2017 report which was released by the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate yesterday, the State's forest covered area has increased by 263 square Kms .
The State's total forest area in 2015 was 17,083 sq Kms and it has now increased to 17,346 sq Kms.
With the exception of Manipur and Assam, forest areas of all other NE States have been declining.
