Imphal, December 20 2016:
National People's Party (NPP) today requested the Election Commission of India to defer the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly Election 2017 till normalcy returns in the State.
NPP stated that essential commodities including petrol, diesel and food items are not available in the State capital due to UNC's ongoing economic blockade.
It also said that the State is reeling under unrest between the communities after new districts were created by the State Government.
Maintaining that economic blockade and counter economic blockade should be brought under control first, NPP stated that conducting election before resolving the prevailing issues would be wrong.
