World Food Day Observed

Like in other parts of the globe, the World Food Day, 2017 was observed today by the Department of Agriculture at its training hall at Sanjenthong.
The occasion was attended by Additional Chief Secretary (Agri), Dr Suhel Akhtar as chief guest and Director of Agriculture Ph Rajendra as president .
Addressing the gathering, Dr Sohail Akhtar said that World Food Day has been observed in the State since 1979 as per a resolution adopted by the United Nations with regard to reach out to the victims of starvation .
He emphasised on the need to focus on food security to ensure that all the people, at all times, have physical, social and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
Observing that contribution of farmers is key to development of a village, he highlighted the need to maintain the cordial relationship between farmers and Agriculture Department to bring in more development in the State.
