Imphal, June 26 2016:
All the Assam Rifles units/formations under
the aegis of Hqs IGAR (South) joined hands on the occasion of
International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking to
spread awareness among the people regarding ill effects of drug
abuse.
Extensive awareness programmes were launched in
Keithelmanbi, Somsai, Pallel, Kakching and various other
towns and villages across the State by Assam Rifles, said a
statement issued by PRO Hqs IGAR (S).
Awareness programmes including runs, lectures and rallies
were conducted.
Seminars were also conducted by the eminent
doctors, wherein an overwhelming number of girls, boys and
people from different spheres participated.
Extending his wishes for good health and happiness to
people of Manipur, IGAR (S) Maj Gen VS Sreenivas reiter-
ated that substance abuse and illicit trafficking of drugs are
evils in the society and continue to pose a health danger to
humanity.
Such initiative and social endeavours against this evil not
only generate awareness among the people but also knit people
of all walks of life together.
