Imphal, January 05 2014:
People for Animal (PFA) Thoubal today freed two common cobras which were caught in a field.
On being informed about catching of two snakes, PFA volunteers rushed to Jailor Leirak of Konjeng Hajari Leikai and found two magnificent Common cobras.
One Salam Deepak of the locality rescued the two along with his friend Lourembam Irabanta when they were working in a field.
Levelling of soil was being carried out in the field using excavator.
The snakes might have been hibernating.
Deepak told PFA that the excavator had accidentally smashed and killed another cobra.
The two were released at a far and secure site today itself, said a PFA statement.
Snakes should not be killed as they feed on rodents which are a menace to farmers, the PFA said.
