AR recovers illegal betel nuts worth Rs 7.7 lakhs in Chandel

Imphal, January 21 2021:
The Assam Rifles troops recovered 1400kg of illegal betel nuts near New Songyang Village in Chandel District of Manipur on yesterday.
The troops intercepted two vehicles in which the betel nuts were being carried without legal documents from across Indo Myanmar border into Indian Territory.
The assessed market value of the recovered edible items is Rs 7.7 Lakh.
The recovered items have been handed over to District Forest Officer, Chandel for further legal action.
