Imphal, January 13 2013 :
In view of the increasing problem of water scarcity in the State, Forest Department has decided to take up a special project with foreign funding in catchment areas of all major rivers of the State.
An official source informed that Forest Department was earlier planning to take up a project called 'Green Valley Livelihood Development Project' .
But the plan has been changed and it has been renamed as 'Integrated Forestry and Livelihood Support Project, Manipur' .
Forest Department would table a concept paper of the project at a meeting of the foreign investment board which would be presided by the Chief Secretary on January 15 .
In case the board approves the project, a consultant would be hired to prepare a detailed project report.
If the project can be taken up successfully, it would be very beneficial to water supply schemes, added the source.
