Locals protests against extortion

Imphal, November 06 2011:
All the shops in Yaingangpokpi Bazar under Lamlai Police Station of Imphal East district remained shut today in protest against alleged extortion by armed cadres of Kuki Liberation Army (KLA), which is a signatory of Suspension of Operation (SoO).
According to the shop-keepers, two armed cadres of KLA came and took away in all Rs 6200 at gun point from some shop-keepers of the Bazar at around 9.30 pm yesterday.
The armed cadres also threatened one shop-keeper who refused to comply with their extortion demand.
Lamlai police had registered a case in connection with the last night's incident.
