Social bodies press for ILP

Imphal, June 06, 2013:
Pointing out the need for implementation of Inner Line Permit (ILP) system in the state, various social bodies including Union of Social Upliftment (USU); Southern Imphal Youth Welfare Organisation (SIYWO); Southern Imphal Cultural Organisation (SICO) and Young Mens' Development Organisation have urged authority concerned to enforce ILP at the earliest possible.
In separate statements, these social bodies observed that when ILP is being implemented in some neighbouring states of Manipur, it should not be a difficult for India government to enforce the same in Manipur as well.
Besides, 60 MLAs of the State Assembly have already resolved to go ahead with ILP.
Moreover, as per the rights and provisions ensured under the Constitution of India such special system can be enforced in the interest of the indigenous people of the state.
