Bengladeshi convict dies in Sajiwa jail

An inmate of Imphal's Sajiwa Central Jail who was a Bangladeshi convict died from a sudden illness at a hospital here on Friday.
Police reports said it appeared Mir Hussain, 60, died of sudden cardiac arrest.
He had been languishing in the prison about one and a half years after convicted under the Section 14 of the Foreigners Act 1946. The Bangladeshi convict died at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences (JNIMS) at 7:30 am, the reports said.
Authority of the Sajiwa Central Jail is waiting the court order on whether the body will be handed to the Bangladeshi authority or to Imphal Municipal Council for disposal.
