Imphal, September 06 2017:
It has been nearly a week since the Public Works Department, one of the major engineering Departments of the State Government, has been operating without any Chief Engineer .
This void has led to inconveniences in communication between the Department and the State Cabinet and the Administrative Department.
The absence of a Chief Engineer is also being felt at various State and National level meetings .
This has also led to difficulties and inconveniences in the tender progress of various developmental works and projects in the State .
The absence of a Chief Engineer has also stalled many Departmental meetings as well as tasks normally reserved for Chief Engineers .
It may be mentioned that the former PWD Chief Engineer, Ch Tiken, resigned from the post on August 31 and the post has been lying vacant ever since.
