In consonance with the directive of the Principal seat of gau-hati High Court, Thangjam Manorama Death Inquiry Commission has conducted in-camera proceedings to ascertain facts and circumstances leading to the custodial death of the 32 year old Manorama at the premises of Imphal Central jail today.
Commanding Officer of 17 Assam Rifles Colonel Jagmohan Singh appeared and submitted his affidavit before the inquiry panel being headed by retired District and Sessions Judge C Upendra, according to sources.
The proceedings that began from around 11.30 am lasted till 4 pm.
A large number of media-personnel who had converged near the inquiry venue had only the opportunity to view movements of the Assam Rifles witnesses from beyond the jail premises.
Only eight lawyers representing that Union of India, 17 AR, deceased Manorama�s brother and mother and three social bodies were allowed to attend the proceedings.
The CO will be crossed-examined tomorrow at 9.30 am, revealed the source.
