Imphal, May 23 2011:
An official team of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights would be visiting Manipur from May 24 to 26 to study the issue of children affected by HIV/AIDS and other child rights issues.
To be led by Dipa Dixit, who is a Member of NCPCR, the team will also interact with the parents of the children who have been rescued from being trafficked to other parts of India like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala, where they were taken on false promises of better education opportunity, as well as with the members of Child Welfare Committees.
Before leaving Imphal, the team is also expected to have a meeting with the State Government to receive feedbacks on implementation of the directives issued by the Supreme Court for prevention of child trafficking and other related issues.
A number of kids from Manipur have been rescued from various homes in other parts of the country.
