Imphal, September 21:
Even though number of vehicles plying along the vital National Highway 39 were visibly reduced in view of Apunba Lup's 16 day national highways (36&53) bandh some goods truck plied on NH 39 amidst tight security arrangement today.
While passenger buses (night super) stayed off the road inter-State passenger carriers especially from Imphal till Mao plied as usual.
Security force personnel were deployed at strategic locations along the said highway in addition to enhanced mobile patrolling.
According to police sources some 2/3 goods laden trucks and tourist buses crossed Mao Gate towards Imphal in the early morning hours.
No bandh related incident has occurred alone the NH 53 so far, added sources.
