Ex-Minister hurt in road mishap

Imphal, August 13 2014 :
Ex-Minister Samuel Jendai and his driver sustained injuries when they met with a road accident between Sejang and K Senam villages along NH-37 this afternoon.
Samuel Jendai and his driver were heading for Imphal from his home located at Lukhumbi village, Tamenglong district in a car (Ford Figo) when their car was hit by a truck coming from the opposition direction at around 1.30 pm.
At the impact of the collision, Samuel's car was thrown into a 30 feet deep gorge.
MR/IRB personnel who were escorting the trucks swung into action immediately and retrieved both Samuel and his driver.
They have been taken to Imphal for treatment.
The spot where the accident took place is around 12 Kms away from Tupul on the way to Imphal.
The area is under the jurisdiction of Sapermeina police station.
The truck sped away and halted itself about 4 Kms away from the accident site.
The driver abandoned the truck there and fled away.
Police have seized and taken the truck to Noney police station, informed a source.
