Shangshak Day observed

Imphal, March 28 2017:
To pay homage to the 'heroes' of World War II who made supreme sacrifice for the motherland, 17 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) conducted a wreath laying ceremony at Shangshak War Memorial on March 26 .
The Battle of Shangshak epitomizes civil-military cooperation in times of adversity.
Beside the British Indian Army personnel, number of civilians also laid down their lives in the battle.
The memorial is located at Shangshak village and the ceremony was attended by Assam Rifles dignitaries and people of nearby villages.
Wreaths were presented on behalf of IGAR (South) and Commander, 10 Sector Assam Rifles by Commandant 17 Assam Rifles at the occasion.
After the ceremony, items includes chairs, tables, CGI sheets and water tanks were presented to ex-servicemen office, Phungyar.
