Farmers'Field day

The Directorate of Extension Education, Central Agricultural University (CAU) organised a farmers ' field day on "Zero Tillage Cultivation of Rapeseed-Mustard in Rice Fallow" at Huikap, Imphal today.
The programme was attended by DRNR director Dr Dhiraj Singh, Dinesh Dattatraya Kulkami, General Secretary Organisation of Bharatiya Kisan Sangha, Dr Bhagirath Ram, senior scientist, MDMR, Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
Speaking at the function, Dr Premjit said that State's farmers are still unable to benefit from modem farming technology due to lack of water storage facility.
He suggested that planting non-cereal crops like mustard and oilseed in rice fallow would benefit farmers and boost the State's economy as well.
Other dignitaries also spoke on the importance of adopting organic farming and modem technology for better yield.
A discussion was also held during the programme.
